Lucy Burningham writes about food, drink and travel from Portland, Oregon. Her work has appeared in dozens of publications, including Sunset, Imbibe, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Bicycling magazine, Saveur, BonAppetit.com and the BBC. She has contributed to Lonely Planet books about the Pacific Northwest and Ecuador, as well as multiple specialty titles including “Food Lover’s Guide to the World.”
Since moving to Portland in 2005, Lucy has had numerous beer awakenings, which inspired her to write extensively about craft beer and co-author “Hop in the Saddle: A Guide to Portland’s Beer Scene by Bike.” When she’s not pedaling from pub to pub, she grows hops for her rare batches of homebrew and seeks out stinky cheeses that were born to be savored alongside sour ales.
Lucy has worked as a journalist for the past 13 years. She earned a master's degree in nonfiction writing from Portland State University and is represented by the New York-based Tessler
